Within Ellen Degeneres’ US$45 million Santa Barbara estate

The stunning California home of television superstar Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia De Rossi is on the market for US$45 million, or $57 million Canadian.

The magnificent home was designed and built in the 1930s by renowned architect Wallace Frost, as a residence for himself after returning from living in Italy. The home emulates the classical style of 17th-century Italian villas, with incredible craftsmanship and tasteful use of luxury materials throughout home’s interior and exterior.

According to a Curbed report, Ellen and Portia originally bought the home in 2013 for US $26.5 million, later modernizing the home and buying two properties adjacent to it to expand their plot to 16.88 acres.

“The surrounding gardens and olive trees are almost as wonderful as the interior. The house truly feels like it was built out of the landscape, rather than plopped on a plot,” Ellen told Curbed. “It feels ancient, like it’s been there forever. Like that hill was never without the house. This is a home that honours nature, and I love that.”

Take a tour with us as we explore Ellen’s incredible California pad.

It feels as though we’ve stepped back into Renaissance-era Italy

The home has a calming, neutral colour scheme throughout each space

The kitchen is arguably the most modern part of the home

Imagine Ellen hosting a fabulous dinner party with some of her talk show guests in this dining room

We’re amazed at the incredible views visible from this massive bedroom

This home has several relaxing living and sitting rooms, and we’re not complaining about it

The couple built this additional indoor-outdoor entertaining pavillion and named it Jordan House

We love the rustic yet modern interior design of the entertaining space

Looks like there’s more than enough space for a party in the Jordan House

We’re not sure we’d be able to finish that game of chess with views like that

Having regular access to an ocean view like this would be a dream

Swimming in a pool like this wouldn’t be too shabby, either

Hosting an outdoor get-together would be a total breeze with a space like this
