F1 Champion Nico Rosberg Takes Delivery of the First Rimac Nevera Hypercar

The 2016 Formula 1 champion is no stranger to this sort of performance.
Rimac has handed over the keys to the first example of its Nevera electric hypercar, and the lucky buyer is none other than Nico Rosberg.

The German was the Formula 1 champion in 2016 – his final season in the sport.

And Rosberg’s new ride is even faster than his Mercedes F1 car ever was.

Now living in Monaco, Nico Rosberg shares his car automotive adventures on his successful YouTube channel.

For the delivery of his new Rimac, he headed to the brand’s HQ in Croatia to take delivery of it at the factory.

Although Rosberg notes he had a chance to invest in the EV manufacturer – he didn’t, and regrets it now the company has the big-money backing of SoftBank and Goldmann Sachs.

While he didn’t invest, he did order his Nevera early on.

That’s how he managed to secure build number 001 of just 150 cars that will be produced.

Nico Rosberg specified his Nevera in black over black, with a full Alcantara interior.

Being his car, and being number 001, it also features a special plaque inside with his signature embossed on it.

Rimac started out as a small company in founder Mate Rimac’s garage in Zagreb, Croatia back in 2009.

Now, the company has grown massively and owns 55 percent of Bugatti.

The two now operate under a joint venture as Bugatti Rimac, with Mate Rimac the CEO of both brands.

The Nevera is only the brand’s second model, following the Concept One of which only eight examples were made.

Able to get from 0-97km/h (0-60mph) in just 1.85 seconds, the Rimac Nevera is the fastest accelerating production car in the world.

That performance comes courtesy of its four electric motors – one for each wheel – which makes a total 1914hp.

Priced at $2 million, this is easily the most extreme electric car in the world right now.
